Bowen can help the mind as well as the body
MOST people think of Bowen Therapy as an effective treatment for physical aches and pains, especially back, neck and shoulder problems.
Less well known, perhaps, are the beneficial effects of Bowen if you are feeling stressed, worried or under pressure.
While stress can be a catalyst to keep us energised and ‘on our toes’ ready to deal with anything, too much stress can affect your body in a negative way resulting in physical and emotional problems that can become chronic over time.
Bowen therapy stimulates the nervous system, encouraging your body to rebalance and repair naturally – without being forced. It deactivates the stress-inducing Autonomic Nervous System (the fight or flight response) and activates your Parasympathetic Nervous System (the body’s rest, digest and repair mode). Only when your body is in this last mode, can healing start to occur.
Bowen Therapy can help your body alleviate stress symptoms and triggers by:
- Kick starting your body’s natural healing process
- Encouraging the brain to let go of tension and stress that may have built up over time
- Improving sleep patterns
- Alleviating headaches
- Improving your digestion and bowel movements
- Allowing more clarity to thoughts, enabling you to see more clearly
